Welcome to Helambu
Helambu is a Himalayan region north of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. It is known as a beyul, a spiritual sanctuary in Buddhism, and is home to many Buddhist monasteries, meditation caves, sacred lakes, and monuments to the locals’ Tibetan ancestry. The hospitality of Helambu’s people and the region’s spectacular Himalayan views make the region a popular destination for trekking. However, this all changed in 2015, when earthquakes devastated Helambu villages. The families are now rebuilding their lives, and Aythos continues to come alongside them to support their health and sustainable livelihoods.
For the past 10 years, Aythos has been working in Helambu and surrounding Himalayan communities to bring health, education, and economic development programs. Now we’re helping Helambu regain its status as a top destination for enjoying Nepal’s Himalayan splendor.
